The proposition of global HFC Phase down has been locked in the debate confined to the elite negotiators, experts in science and professionals in technology transfer. TERRE Policy Centre recognizes that HFC-Phase down deliberations in reality touches the ‘bottom of the pyramid’ including farmers and common man.
The side event that connects the HFC phase-down for the first time to Sustainable Development Goals will highlight the ground realties that connects cold chain, food and energy security of the nations.
Field experts with hands-on ground level experience from India, UAE and Saudi Arabia will present the case-studies.

During the side event, the Nigeria National Ozone Unit and representatives from Pamaque industry will present the results of the pilot demonstration project to produce refrigerant grade hydrocarbons in Nigeria. Aspects that will be shared include the construction of the distillation column at Pamaque, training activities conducted to promote the use of such hydrocarbons in the refrigeration sector, future plans to expand and commercialize the use of such hydrocarbons in Nigeria and the region.
