There are different proposals by developed and developing country parties and groups for phase down in A5 parties. As the expectations of a deal in the current negotiations in Kigali increase, it is critical  to start thinking about an operational strategy under different proposed baselines and freeze years. The presentation will share CEEW's updated analysis on HFC consumption growth across sectors in India, what it means for a baseline in CO2-eq terms, and what learnings can be derived for an operational strategy for a phase down within different baselines and freeze scenarios.

Description:This side-event will provide an overview of safety issues associated with low GWP, non-ozone depleting substances and the relevant international and regional standards. There will be consideration of how standards can be useful in supporting the adoption of alternatives in the context of the HCFC phase-out in developing countries and how a lack of standards or inappropriate standards can present a barrier, especially from the point of view of hazard prevention and safe handling.
