Description: Possible Pathways/Solutions to Address Concerns about Application Patents on the Use of HFOs
This session will focus on possible ways to address concerns about the restrictions from application patents on the use of HFOs. It will explore four potential areas of solutions including: the role of MLF in paying for patents; commercial agreements among chemical companies; expiration dates for patents; and legal challenges to application patents. New research from a paper focusing on the status of legal challenges to application patents covering the use of HFO-1234yf in automobile air conditioning will be presented at the side event session.
