Latest findings of A2L risk assessment conducted in Japan and current status of A3 risk assessment

Organizer: JRAIA Description: Japan is striving forward toward the mitigation of global warming with collaboration of Japanese government, industry and academic field. The latest activities include the basic evaluation of flammable refrigerants, risk assessment by product types, and revision of acts, industry standards and guidelines pursuant to ISO and IEC standards. The revision of High-pressure Gas Safety Act and Act on Rational Use and Proper Management of Fluorocarbons have been made to reduce CO2 emission by promoting low-GWP refrigerants. During this side event, JRAIA along with METI and The University of Tokyo will present update on the legislation in Japan in addition to the latest findings of A2L risk assessment, introduction of relevant guidelines and standards, followed by current status of A3 refrigerants.

Achieving the phase-down in Europe: road-map and reality

Organizer: EPEE Description: The global HFC phase-down has now been agreed and the coming period will bring numerous challenges in terms of implementation. This workshop will show the industry perspective on reaching the phase-down goals in different global regions. EPEE will present the case of the EU through the results obtained in the Gapometer project which shows progress towards meeting the phase-down steps in the EU F-gas Regulation.

Organizer: IGSD Description: This side event presents strategies for achieving affordable, super-efficient room air conditioners (ACs) using lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants. It includes lessons learned from the public procurement of super-efficient room ACs in India and from discussions with industry and governments in other countries advising on the elements required to craft private procurements that can be undertaken in any market. The panel includes Stephen O. Andersen, Suely Carvalho, Marco Gonzalez Karan Mangotra, and Rajendra Shende.
