Wider impacts of the ozone treaties
The ozone layer shields the Earth from the sun’s harmful ultra violet radiation and is essential for humans and all life to thrive. By implementing the Montreal Protocol, parties are successfully protecting the ozone layer which safeguards our well-health avoiding potentially millions of cases of skin cancer and eye cataracts and our food chains on land and in water, for example, which in turn supports many of the Sustainable Development Goals.
