Frida Muriithi joined the Ozone Secretariat in July 2025. She has a strong background in environmental policy, climate resilience, and sustainable urban development.

Prior to joining the Secretariat, Frida worked with the Ecosystems Division of UNEP, the Programme Division of UN-Habitat, and in the private consultancy sector. At UNEP, she contributed to the Poverty-Environment Action and supported the planning and coordination of the fourth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), focusing on integrating environmental sustainability into national policy frameworks. At UN-Habitat, she supported sustainable settlement planning and the development of infrastructure projects that addressed environmental risks and climate adaptation.

As a consultant, Frida held several roles promoting environmental integration in development planning, and her most recent assignment was under the World Bank-funded Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP). In this role, she conducted environmental and social screening exercises across 19 informal settlements and developed Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) that emphasized green infrastructure, climate-sensitive design, and energy-efficient approaches in settlement upgrading.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning and Management from Kenyatta University and a Master of Arts in Planning from the University of Nairobi. Frida is passionate about advancing ozone and climate protection, particularly through inclusive, evidence-based policy solutions and innovation in sustainable cooling and low-GWP technologies.
