
Gilbert M. Bankobeza is Senior Legal Officer. He has served in that capacity since September 1991 when he joined the Ozone Secretariat. Prior to that he served as a diplomat and legal adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, United Republic of Tanzania and a Solicitor in Macdonald and Freund Barristers, Solicitors and Notaries Public, Edmonton, Canada.
He holds a Doctorate degree in international environmental law from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, a Masters degree in international law from the University of Alberta, Canada and a Bachelor's degree in law from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He has published a number of commentaries on international environmental law and a book on the international legal regime of ozone protection.
