Kim Kluin joined the Ozone Secretariat as an Environmental Affairs Intern in April 2026.

She has a background in industrial ecology, with a focus on the energy transition, circular economy and sustainable technologies.

As part of the Future Leaders Traineeship Programme of the GIZ GmbH (German Development cooperation enterprise), Kim supported the project “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for Climate Protection” in Ghana . She advised the Ghanaian Government on renewable energy grid integration and the implementation of energy efficiency measures and led a pilot project on the end-of-life management of solar photovoltaic modules.

Earlier in her career, Kim worked on sustainability projects across different contexts. In collaboration with Engineers Without Borders in Zimbabwe, she evaluated sustainable infrastructure solutions together with NGOs, scientists, and local authorities. At the Foundation for Industrial and Technical Research Norway (SINTEF), she researched innovative waste treatment and energy recovery technologies with a focus on resource efficiency. She also contributed to the development of sustainable business models for resource utilization with the Sustainable Seas Trust in South Africa.

Kim began her professional career at Airbus Helicopters, where she worked as a project manager in equipment design development before specializing in sustainability.

She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Ingolstadt, Germany, and a Master of Science in Industrial Ecology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). She is fluent in English, German, French and Spanish, has a working knowledge of Norwegian and a basic knowledge of Mandarin.
