Fire Suppression Technical Options Committee (FSTOC) is one of the five Technical Options Committees of the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel. FSTOC assesses the global production, consumption and availability of halons and alternatives for replacing them. Halons are used in fire protection in aviation, ships, military, computer facilities. There are still challenges in finding suitable alternatives for some uses. FSTOC also assesses the halon banks and their adequacy for important uses where no alternatives are available.
