Australia's results in quantifying the benefits of HVAC & R maintenance
Time Description Venue
13:00 - 15:00
Organizer: Refrigerants Australia

Title: Australia's results in quantifying the benefits of HVAC & R maintenance

Description: Intuitively, maintaining HVAC equipment seems like a good idea: it is almost a truism that equipment will run better and for longer if it is well maintained. However, making the economic case for supporting property owners to maintain equipment and Governments to encourage owners to do so has been bedevilled by a lack of data proving that benefits exist. This seminar will share recent results on studies and practices that highlight the benefits of maintenance and set the scene for opportunities across the HVAC industry and for further policy development.

Success/Highlights of Certification Training and comprehensive HFC refrigerant recovery and stewardship of Indigenous First Nations in Canada
Time Description Venue Documents
13:00 - 15:00
Organizer: Manitoba Ozone Protection Industry Association (MOPIA)

Title: Success/Highlights of International Certification Training, empowering women in HVAC, comprehensive HFC refrigerant recovery and stewardship on Indigenous First Nations in Canada

Description: Hosted by MOPIA, featuring three international climate industry leaders, PureSphera (Mr. Mathieu Filion) and The International Institute of Refrigeration (Mr. Didier Coulombe), learn about technician training, woman in HVAC in Europe and other IIR and Centro Galileo partner countries, appliance refrigerant recovery and how Canada has over 600 distinct Indigenous communities who first settled the nation many without all weather road access.

During winter, ice roads over frozen lakes and rivers connect many of these communities to the rest of the country. These communities receive most of their provisions via float planes in summer and via trucks on ice roads during harsh winter conditions. MOPIA has brought certification training, refrigerant recovery equipment and the expertise to empower local indigenous peoples to safely recover refrigerants from automobiles, appliances and air conditioners, redirecting many years of leaving these units to decay in forests or burying discarded items at waste disposal grounds. See examples of these successes and how the same success can happen throughout your nation in partnership with indigenous peoples.

The race to sustainable cooling: Uniting nature and technology to reach climate and ozone targets
Time Description Venue Documents
13:00 - 15:00
Organizer: Cool Up programme

Title: The race to sustainable cooling: Uniting nature and technology to reach climate and ozone targets

Description: The transition to natural refrigerants and sustainable cooling can accelerate both the global climate and ozone agendas. Designed to tackle this nexus, the Cool Up: Upscaling Sustainable Cooling programme supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) promotes accelerated technological change and early implementation of the Kigali Amendment to the Montréal Protocol and Paris Agreement in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkiye. This panel of experts will address global efforts in this space and how the Cool Up programme aims to support partner countries in realising catalytic change in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector with a holistic and cross-sectoral approach.

We will provide an overview of available technologies supporting sustainable cooling and natural refrigerants and their role in reducing the overall electricity demand and reducing environmental impacts. Representatives of the National Ozone Units (NOU) of two of Cool Up partner countries will then dive deeper into regulatory aspects and their efforts in achieving progress towards their climate commitments. The presentations will be followed by a live Q&A session with the audience.
