Title: How the AC Servicing Sector can Leverage Technology Improvements to Achieve Jobs, Growth and Sustainability
Abstract: The Montreal Protocol set in motion the process of phasing-out ozone-depleting refrigerant technologies in cooling applications. After the Kigali Amendment, the cooling sector is poised for yet another transition: from high-GWP technologies to near-zero-GWP technologies. Apart from refrigerants, energy efficiency of cooling equipment has also become a focal point of attention, and a transition in its own right.
The recent developments suggest that another technology transition is on the anvil: Internet of Things (IoT) in consumer durables. Linking all these transitions is the servicing and maintenance sector, which must step up to the needs and challenges posed by the changes. The side event at MOP33 is an effort to revisit this crucial question: how do we think through technology transitions in the cooling sector from service technicians' perspective?

Title: Key findings of the 6th Assessment Report Working Group I report and assessments of interest for stratospheric ozone and substances controlled under the Montreal Protocol
Abstract: In this presentation, we will briefly summarize the main findings of IPCC WG1 AR6, released this summer, on the state of climate science and progress in our understanding since the AR5 report published in 2013. We will present the assessment of trends in stratospheric ozone and the effects of ozone on radiative forcing and the most recent state of knowledge on connections between climate and stratospheric ozone.
The assessment of the evolution of atmospheric abundances of compounds of interest for the Montreal protocol in this report is built on extension of the work presented in the 2018 WMO Ozone Assessment report. In AR6, we explored the future of climate response to five illustrative scenarios that are based on various future socioeconomic pathways. We will explain the way ODS and replacement compounds are considered in these scenarios and present our assessment of the climate effect of the Kigali Amendment.
