Advancing low-GWP Technologies for A/C sector in Egypt

Organizer: NOU-EEAA (Egypt) Description: The event will highlight the output and the results of a project implemented by UNIDO, as lead agency, and UNEP, as cooperating agency ; titled “Feasibility study for district cooling”, that aims to provide a detailed technical, financial as well as environmental and energy assessment / Roadmap for the government of Egypt, in the development of district cooling systems. Highlight also the output and the results of the testing programs that have been done under an initiative for the Promotion of low-GWP refrigerants for the Air-Conditioning Industry in Egypt (EGYPRA), within the HPMP framework.

Organizer: IGSD, OzonAction,TERI Description: This workshop describes the latest efforts underway to organize a Morocco Bankers AC Buyers Club as a pilot for all-Africa Buyers Clubs to lower the price of super-efficient room ACs designed or high ambient temperature and using lower GWP refrigerants. The presentation topics and discussion include recruitment of private businesses and public partners, inventory of existing air conditioning systems, application of new metrics to estimate the lifecycle carbon footprint using local climate and time-of-day carbon intensity of electricity, and a simple method for comparing the energy consumption of existing room ACs with super-efficient replacements using low-GWP refrigerants.
