Smarter Standards: Vital for Kigali Amendment Success
Time Description Venue
13:00
Organizer: EIA Description: This side event will focus on the climate imperative of modernizing standards for successful implementation of the Kigali Amendment and the ongoing HCFC phase-out. The Montreal Protocol and other policy venues have recently started recognizing updated standards as a critical step to implementing the transition away from HCFCs and HFCs. The pace at which this work continues will be a primary driver of the technology options available to countries in meeting their domestic and international climate commitments in the RAC sector. Additional efforts are needed both within the Montreal Protocol framework and in individual countries for standards that enable widespread safe application of low-GWP refrigerants.
