Enforcing the HFCs Import/Export Requirements
Time Description Venue Documents
13:00 - 15:00
Organizer: International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (INECE)

Title: Enforcing the HFCs Import/Export Requirements

Description: As the phase down of HFCs continues there is increasing concern with illegal import and export of HFCs. This concern was part of the discussion at the Basel Convention's Environmental Network for Optimizing Regulatory Compliance on Illegal Traffic (ENFORCE) session in February 2024 and the subject of an International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (INECE) webinar in April 2024.

The proposed side event would build on these discussions focusing on the nature of illegal shipments of HFC, how best to detect these illegal shipments, international cooperation in interdicting illegal shipments, best practices for enforcing the Kigali Amendment, and how best to deter future violations.
