Reducing the Global Warming Impact in Supermarkets
Time Description Venue Documents
13:00 - 15:00
Organizer: Danfoss

Title: Reducing the global warming impact in supermarkets

Description: Today, sustainability is more than a trend—it's a necessity. Supermarkets have a unique opportunity to lead the way, saving energy, cost and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Join us for our interactive side-event to learn more about latest trends and get inspired by best practices that supermarkets can implement to meet these demands head-on by phasing out high GWP refrigerants such as R-404A, moving to natural refrigerants whenever possible, increasing energy efficiency and Implementing maintenance strategies.

Confirmed speakers include the European Commission, DG CLIMA: Arno Kaschl; Ray Gluckman, Gluckman Consulting; Marco Buoni, Real Alternatives, Centro Studi Galileo; Yosr Allouche (Director General IIR); and Andrea Voigt, Danfoss Climate Solutions.

Australia’s Research on Refrigerant Leaks and Energy Consequences of Poor Maintenance: How this Data can Support Improved Emission Reductions
Time Description Venue Documents
13:00 - 15:00
Organizer: Refrigerants Australia

Title: Australia’s Research on Refrigerant Leaks and Energy Consequences of Poor Maintenance: How this Data can Support Improved Emission Reductions

Description: The refrigerant community is unanimous in our belief that through competent equipment installation, maintenance, repair and recovery at end-of-life significant environmental benefits can be accrued in both reductions in refrigerant leakage and reduced energy demand. It just makes common sense. Yet, the international community does not possess a solid information basis to support this contention and without evidence it is hard for policy makers to justify the implementation of regulation.

Australian industry and government have long recognised the need for greater data to enable further policy development to happen. This side-event will present new information just collected and will expound on what the information and both to policy-makers and businesses.

Empowering Sustainable Cooling Solutions: Advancing the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP)
Time Description Venue Documents
18:00 - 20:00
Organizer: The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI)

Title: Empowering Sustainable Cooling Solutions: Advancing the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP)

Description: Heat stress poses a significant challenge, threatening the economy and health of millions, especially in tropical regions. To combat this, India launched the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP) in 2019, aiming for a 20-25% reduction in cooling demand and a 25-30% reduction in refrigeration demand by 2037. ICAP aligns with existing government initiatives across various sectors, including buildings, cold chains, and transportation.

Focusing on sustainable technologies for space cooling, ICAP emphasises reducing cooling loads through passive strategies and efficient cooling technologies. By integrating passive design and climate-friendly cooling solutions, we can lower heat loads significantly. This event by TERI will discuss these strategies, assessing cooling needs and technologies to promote energy efficiency and climate resilience.

Next-Gen AC Innovations: Unpacking the Latest Market and Technology Trends in Sustainable Cooling
Time Description Venue
18:00 - 20:00
Organizer: Guidehouse - Cool Up Programme

Title: Next-Gen AC Innovations: Unpacking the Latest Market and Technology Trends in Sustainable Cooling

Description: This event offers an in-depth overview of the use of natural refrigerants in stationary air conditioning, highlighting the current status, latest market trends, and product innovations. Attendees will gain insights into the newest technological advancements and AC innovations in sustainable cooling presented at this year’s Chillventa, one of the world’s largest exhibitions for refrigeration, AC, ventilation, and heat pump technologies.

The session will cover key developments in the use of natural refrigerants, including geographical trends, market coverage, and other significant market dynamics. The second part of the session introduces a manufacturer's perspective, which will provide a deeper level of insight into regional AC markets.

Accelerating the Implementation of the Kigali Amendment Through Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) and Alternative Cooling Technologies (ACTs)
Time Description Venue
18:00 - 20:00
Organizer: Carbon Containment Lab

Title: Accelerating the Implementation of the Kigali Amendment Through Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) and Alternative Cooling Technologies (ACTs)

Description: The transition from HFCs under the Kigali Amendment offers a critical opportunity to curb near-term climate change. However, without robust LRM and ACT policies, the full climate benefits will not be realised. Accelerating LRM and scaling up ACT deployment are not just complementary strategies—they are essential for maximising the Kigali Amendment’s impact.

The Carbon Containment Lab (CC Lab) is committed to advancing these goals by promoting innovative LRM strategies and supporting the development of ACTs. This side event will gather leading experts to discuss how best to leverage LRM and ACTs to accelerate the HFC phase down, spotlighting the role of the private sector, national governments, and international organisations in driving forward these climate-critical strategies.
